Do you know just how groovy you REALLY are?

kitten-lionI used to be totally unaware of how groovy I am, so if you don’t know…I can relate. In fact, I lived my entire life, constantly reminding myself inside my head, “Don’t forget, you are pretty damn low on the food chain.” It took a pretty emotionally crippling, world-shattering experience to make me step back and think, “Ok, Ryan. Here we are – ground zero. You haven’t been playing this game very well so far. Maybe it’s time to check out some new perspective. So what are you going to do about it?”

I was broken. Actually, I’d always been broken, but now I knew it. I decided to rebuild, from the ground up, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far.  I’d like to share some of the resources that have helped me along the way…

Marc and Angel Hack Life – This is the most uplifting, practical site I’ve had the pleasure of finding. Their advice and insight are truly amazing.  I’ve linked a few relevant pages below, but browse around and you’ll find just what your soul needs in no time.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle – This book was a very powerful wake-up call for me. I truly believe the author’s emphasis on the self chatter than goes on in everyone’s head, what its significance is, and how to deal with it.

The New Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz – This link is to the book, but I went through the audio course. There’s a follow-up course called Zero Resistance Living. A good friend lent them to me, and I put them on an mp3 CD and listened to them several times a week for a couple months when I was on the road for work. I think I’d be selling them short if I didn’t say they changed my life. It’s old stuff (circa 1960) which I struggled with at times since I’m a new-age guy, but that’s also proof that it has stood the test of time. It’s not for everyone, but it put my damaged self-image back on track, and I’ll forever be thankful.

I will be sure to add more resources again soon, so please check back!
